Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium Funding and who is eligible?

Pupil Premium (PP) is additional funding that the government allocates to schools on the basis of the number of children in school entitled to free school meals, looked after children, special guardianship children, child arrangement order, children adopted from care and those from families serving in the armed forces.

The funding is intended to be used to help narrow the achievement gap as nationally, evidence shows that pupils eligible for pupil premium funding do not achieve as well as those pupils who are not eligible. As a Federation, we strive to ensure all pupils achieve their potential.

Schools are free to decide how best to spend the additional funds to support children eligible for the funding, together with any other children identified by the school as vulnerable.

For more details on Pupil Premium please visit: http://www.education.gov.uk/schools/pupilsupport/premium.

Children in Reception and KS1 are entitled to a free hot school meal at lunchtimes. However, registering your child for free school meals will enable the school to gain this additional funding to support your child’s learning.

If you think your child is eligible, please contact one of our school offices. Some parents may feel uncomfortable with being recognised as “low income” and may have concerns about their child being identified as eligible for “Pupil Premium”. Let me reassure you that all staff treat any information about income as confidential and children are unaware of the funding themselves.

Across our Federation we want every child to have an equal opportunity to all events, activities and learning opportunities, regardless of their home income. We believe all children have the right to meet or exceed the expectations for their age and will do everything possible to ensure that this happens.
